Liverpool and Manchester

May 1-2, 2004

Anfield, Liverpool  home of Liverpool FC

We had great weather for
the match. Anfield is a little
run-down as a stadium,
and is situated in a slum.

In the corporate box aside
from me was Brian Fenix
of HP in Dublin, Tom
Geoghegan, Anthony
Dinan and his wife Mary,
and twins from Sneem in
Kerry (Mark and David
Drummond) who won an
all-expenses trip in a
competition in The
Kerryman, a sister
publication.

Also there were Donough,
the irascible Brown
brothers (who distribute
The Irish Post, a
London-based sister
publication) and Shay, a
journalist with The Irish
Post.

Me at the Bill Shankly
memorial statue. It
says: "He made the
people happy."

The North end

48 minutes into the game: Penalty!

Danny Murphy places the ball on the spot...

He waits for the referee to give him the go-ahead...

... and he scores! 1-0! (Sorry, was jumping around -- no pictures!)

More action...
